One common feeling that many people have after they sell their homes is seller’s remorse and this usually happens because the seller didn’t know what steps to follow to insure that they were able to sell their home without looking back.

In this post we will share with you simple steps you can follow to ensure that you don’t become a victim of seller’s remorse after selling your home

Step #1 – De-Personalize Your Home  Sellers Remorse

The first step to avoiding seller’s remorse is to remove the personalization, or mark you’ve made on your home over the years.

Some aspects of personalization you should remove from your home include:

  • Family pictures
  • Artwork
  • Decorating choices like: Wall Paper, or specific colors in bedrooms.
  • Personalized marks that have been left on the home over the years, like growth charts.

Step #2 – Start Getting Ready to Move NOW

Now that you’ve removed the personalization from your home the next step is to start getting ready to move now by boxing up any items that you may not be using because starting to move now will help you to emotionally “move on” from your home and onto your next house without having to go through the difficulty of moving after your home has sold.

Step #3 – Begin Planning For Your New Home

Regardless if you haven’t bought a new home yet or not it’s important to start planning for your new home now, including choosing the furniture you would like in your new house because the sooner you start planning for your future in your new home, the easier it will be to move on from your home once you finally do sell it.

Although these steps seem simple, they are essential at helping you move on emotionally and physically from your home after you’ve sold it without dealing with seller’s remorse.
