Planning on selling your Orange County home in 2013, to upgrade to a bigger home?
Before putting your home on the market it’s important to evaluate it’s interior and determine if the inside of your home has a potentially scary interior that could keep buyers away.
If you ask any Orange County Realtor about what is the major interior decorating “no-no” that buyers don’t like these days, they will tell you that it’s popcorn ceiling.
Why are these ceilings bad?
A popcorn ceiling makes a home feel old and is something that gives potential buyers flashbacks to the 1960’s and 1970’s when it might have been built.
To eliminate the popcorn ceilings in a home, all you have to do is get a putty knife or paint scrapper and spray bottle filled with water, then spray the ceiling with water, let water saturate the surface for a few minutes then proceed to scrape it off.
Outrageous Floral Patterns
Flowers wall patterns can be beautiful but, if they are overused, a floral wall pattern can overwhelm anyone and give them flashbacks to the 1960’s or 1970’s. If you want to have a floral wall pattern in your home make sure that it’s only in small doses like on one wall because, having one “focal wall” will be just enough to make a statement and it will be an easy project for anyone to remove if they decide to purchase that home.
Fix Brick Work
Older homes that were built between the 1950’s and 1960’s typically have some brickwork but the sad thing is that as these homes have aged, it’s easy for the brickwork to become damaged or broken in places.
Instead of using “fake brick” to fix a homes brickwork, it’s important to take the time and spend the money to replace a homes damaged bricks because, this investment will only help to increase it’s value and make it more appealing to potential buyers.
