    Patriot Day 2012 – 11 Years Later, We Still Haven’t Forgotten

    Patriot Day is a day that almost every Orange County resident over the age of 15 years old will remember because, it’s a day that honors the 2,977 lives that were lost during the terrorist attacks on September 11th 2001. It doesn’t matter what you were doing on that day, you remember where you were when the planes hit the Twin Towers in New York and Patriot’s Day is a day to stop ad reflect.

    Patriot Day History  

    Since December 18th 2001, Patriot Day has been a day of remembrance in the United States. Although it’s not a Federal Holiday, where you can get time off from work or school, Patriot Day is still a day that can be spent with others to remember  those who lost their lives on September 11th 2001, and keep that day fresh in the minds of our children so they won’t forget.

    2012 Patriot Day Events In Orange County

    On Tuesday September 11, 2012 there are many things that the average person can do to honor those who lost their lives during the September 11th 2001 terrorist attacks; if you’re searching for ideas on what to do on this day, here’s a couple of ideas:

    • Nixon LibraryThe Richard Nixon Foundation in will commemorate the 11th anniversary remembrance of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 that claimed nearly 3,000 American lives. Held in the White House East Room, this promises to be Orange County’s largest commemoration event, and will feature keynote remarks by Major General Melvin Spiese, Commanding General of the 1st Expeditionary Brigade, and noted author and television commentator Bruce Herschensohn.
    • Irvine Valley College 9/11 Commemoration Ceremony – The Irvine Valley College community will commemorate the eleventh anniversary of 9/11 on Tuesday, September 11, from 12:00 to 1 p.m. in the IVC Performing Arts Center. Free parking. 5500 Irvine Center Drive, Irvine, CA. Guest speakers will include Irvine Police Chief David Maggard, Jr., Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens, and Orange County Fire Authority Chief Keith Richter.
