When people think about Orange County they typically visualize the beautiful weather that we enjoy all year long, great recreational activities and iconic destinations that make Orange County one of the top destinations for travel and relocation in the United States
One of the things that’s typically not discussed about Orange County is that the area has been one of the leaders in innovation since the mid-20th Century and continues to this day.
Walt Disney’s Vision
One of the first notable destinations in Orange County that still continues to draw millions of visitors each year is Disneyland.
Thanks to the vision of Walt Disney his theme park proved that families would want to come to a place where they could visit theme “lands” and enjoy thrill rides that they couldn’t find anywhere else. But it wasn’t easy for Walt Disney to get his theme park off the ground.
Disney partnered with ABC and gave them a 34% share in his theme park in exchange for a weekly television show which he would ultimately star in and the show ended up becoming a “vehicle” that made millions of people from around the world want to visit his theme park once it was opened in 1955.
Turning Ideas into Big Business
Besides the contribution of Walt Disney in turning Orange County into the well-known destination for business pioneers, visionaries and travelers that it is today the city has also been a place for many companies to get their start over the years.
Some of the famous brands that have innovated here in Orange County are Carl’s Jr, In-N-Out Burger, Oakley, Hurley and Van’s.
Yes, business is great in Orange County but it’s also been awesome for surfers and their surfing related businesses including Hobie, the famous brand of surfing gear that was started by Hobie Alter right here in the 1950’s as well.
If you’re looking for a great environment for business, innovation, and a great lifestyle, Orange County is the right place for you. There is no shortage of things to do or innovators to surround yourself with here.
