Now That The Holidays Are Over? How Do I Sell My Home Now?

After Chistmas Home SaleNow that the holidays are over and your last guests have gone home, it’s time to start thinking about selling your home once again but the question is how you do that?

In this post will share with you several tips that you can use to sell your home successfully in 2016 and buy the next home of your dreams.

Get Your Home Ready For Sale

The first thing that you need to do to sell your home in 2016 is to get it ready for sale.

Start by removing your Christmas tree and all the holiday decorations from your home then give your home a thorough cleaning from top to bottom including cleaning those hard-to-reach areas that you may have forgotten about cleaning all year long like the top of your refrigerator or behind your television set.

When your home is clean the next thing you need to do is start decluttering your home one room at a time.

For example: start in your living room by first cleaning out the coat closet they move from the coat closet to your entertainment cabinet and remove all items that your family may not be using on a regular basis like: gaming devices, controls, games, movies or other favorite electronics that have not been used in the last three months.

Place all of the items that your family is not using regularly in a pile in the middle of the room and then move on to another room in your home and do the same thing by creating a pile of all the items that are not in regular use.

Besides creating piles in each room you should also create piles for items you can sell, give away or trash because you never want to take everything from your old home to your new home since moving also represents an opportunity to shed some of the excess items that you’ve accumulated over the years.

Once each room has its own pile place the contents of each pile neatly into a storage box and then place those boxes neatly in either your garage or rent a storage unit so you can have those boxes out your garage.

After cleaning and decluttering your home the next thing that you have you is to stage your home.

Contrary to public opinion staging is not decorating, staging involves removing the larger pieces of furniture from each room in your home like large sectionals, sofas or recliners and replacing those big pieces of furniture with smaller pieces of furniture so you can emphasize the space and square footage that your home has to offer.

Now that your home is clean, de-cluttered and staged it’s time to hire a real estate agent who will market your home for sale both offline and online.
