Millennials – Tips for Buying Your First Orange County Home

Buying a home is one of the most exciting things that you will ever do if you’re a millennial. For the first time you will be able to stop renting, own your own home, and enjoy the benefits of things like equity which will build over time.

Before you go searching for your first home here are five tips that will help you during the home buying process.

Tip 1 – Choose the Right Neighborhood

The top goal with buying a home is to choose a home that’s located in a neighborhood where you would love to live for at least 10 years or longer.

You should also make sure that the home you choose is in a great school district, near stores and within walking distance of amenities like trails, gyms and other activities.

Tip 2 – Close To Work

Everyone wants to buy a home that’s in a great neighborhood but will it be close to where you work?  Before signing a contract to purchase a home it’s important to take the bigger picture into perspective and find out how far the home that you want to purchase is from where you work. Otherwise you could find yourself commuting a lot longer than you really want to.

Tip 3 – Visit at Different Times of Day

Yes! You finally found a home that you love but did you visit it at only one time of day? Before purchasing a home it’s important to visit it in the morning, afternoon and evening. By visiting it at multiple times, you could find that there’s certain things that you don’t like about the home or neighborhood that you wouldn’t have known had you only visited it once during the day.

Tip 4 – Work with Your Real Estate Agent

Last of all, but most important, during the process of buying a home in Orange County it’s important to work with your Real Estate agent by telling them exactly what you’re looking for in a home because, their job is to serve you.

During the process of buying a home you must also make sure that you’re on standby mode. With the hot Orange County Real Estate market you want to be available if your Realtor contacts you with a home that’s just listed so you don’t miss the chance to submit an offer on home that you love before other buyers do.
